Another group of B-movie actors is in deadly peril in this familiar but enjoyable made-for-TV disaster movie. Fortunately, they include an interestingly mixed bag of players of the quality of Tom Skerritt, Charles S Dutton, Cicely Tyson, Erika Eleniak and Rachel Ticotin. So, while the going gets tough as an earthquake hits New York, things aren't too bad for the viewers. The special effects, though obviously cut to a budget, are pretty impressive, proving how much you can get for how little these days. Cheesy dialogue and plodding plotting let the telefilm down, but when it gets dull there are still a few laughs to be had at its expense.
