The lifeblood, or whatever it is that flows through the veins of superpeople, is clearly thinning in this episode from the 'super' series and, although Helen Slater and Faye Dunaway give their all to Supergirl and her sorceress adversary, the plot and situations that surround them are strictly one-dimensional. Miss Slater is actually more fun in her schoolgirl disguise than as Supergirl herself and it would have been nice to see more of the film spun round this side of her life. However, the demands for bigger-and-better decree that she shall combat the forces of evil, the Phantom Zone, the Alien Storm, the Fearful Fireball and all that sort of thing. Ms Dunaway and especially Brenda Vaccaro as her cigarette-puffing confidante, plotting nothing less than world domination from a room in a funfair ghost house, make the most of their roles. Special effects are good and young children should enjoy it thoroughly, while their parents can use the romantic interludes to make the coffee.
