Jim Dale gets all the best lines in Peter Nichols' skilful adaptation of his own hit play in which the scandalous conditions of a ramshackle national health hospital are contrasted with the comic cavortings in the medical soap opera being shown on the ward television. A beguiling, perceptive and very funny black comedy.
