An unusual picture to come from the man who wrote such bread-and-butter Hollywood fims as Battle Beyond the Stars, Piranha and The Howling, especially since John Sayles, its writer/editor/director, has since moved back to mainline box-office pictures. However, some of his literary work does refect the more serious side of his creativity, and this perceptive look at a group of American reactionaries 10 years on attracted great attention at the 1981 London Film Festival. It's certainly more accessible than most films of its kind.
