The action in this film, set in the Japan of the mid 19th century, comes on like a combination of kung-fu movie, western and oriental fantasy. Distinguished Japanese actors Toshiro Mifune and Tetsuro Tamba have featured roles. Laura Gemser, of the `Black Emmanuelle' films, is an unlikely heroine.
