The famous Beverly Hills Hotel in Los Angeles is the setting for this omnibus type film of several stories.

Written by Neil Simon, it is much in the Simon mould with a tempting blend of comedy and touches of straight drama.

Among the star cast are Maggie Smith as a British actress who has been nominated for an Academy Award (she actually won an Oscar for this film!) and Michael Caine as her antique-dealer husband.

Walter Matthau stars as a businessman, whilst Jane Fonda is the wisecracking divorcee with Alan Alda as her screenwriter ex-husband.

Bill Cosby and Richard Pryor are rather over the top as two Chicago doctors who are close friends - though maybe not for long!

Predictably uneven, but quite pleasant company on the whole with a nice jazz background score.
