A comedy-drama that's sometimes caustic, sometimes likeable and sometimes as dry as the law books over which Jill Clayburgh and Walter Matthau wrangle. She's the first woman judge to be appointed to the American Supreme Court. He, naturally, is the recalcitrant rebel who opposes her but finally falls for her charm. The film seems a little short, but the stars play the limited situations wonderfully well together to make this celebral mixture a feast for their fans.
