The onetime lifeguard is best known for playing the titular heroine in the teen slasher All The Boys Love Mandy Lane.

Other big screen outing include the FBI crime drama Alpha Dog and she played a young Charlize Theron in the drama North Country.

She attended St Michael's Catholic Academy in Texas (she dropped out and was home-schooled) and then picked up work in commercials for Saturn cars and also in music videos.

(as a teenager she was a Catholic until a friend died in a road accident and she became an atheist)

She made her small screen debut in the pilot show for the American political drama Jack & Bobby in 2004.

Later the same year she appeared in the sports movie Friday Night Lights as Maria and the little seen zombie horror yarn SideFX in 2005.

Roles followed in the TV romantic drama The O.C. and feature work included the Jason Lee comedy Drop Dead Sexy and the political drama North Country.

In 2006, she starred in the teenage horror yarn All The Boys Love Mandy Lane as an enigmatic teenager tempted on a weekend break with the school in-crowd.
