Sperm donors, as they say, come and go. But not Bartek (Dorocinski).
An affable chef with a domineering mum, he overcomes his cripplng shyness to reply to a small ad placed by wannabe mother Matylda (Rozcka).
She wants a no-strings-attached dad for her baby who will conveniently disappear when the messy deed is done and the fatherless child is born.
However, once they meet - in a MacDonalds for convenience's sake - the two lost souls find themselves vaguely attracted to one another.
However, business is business and Matylda is brusquely determined just to nurture a child...not snare a husband.
Director Maciej Zak's gentle yarn has elements of British rom-coms - Richard Curtski? - and unfortunately displays many of their failings as well as their strengths.
Bartek comes across as a well-meaning version of a Hollywood comedy character - the 34-year-old virgin? - while Matylda's character is so one-dimensional if she stood side on you'd have difficulty seeing her.
Revolving around them are a coterie of casting session singletons, the most interesting of which is a sexaholic who appears to attend counselling sessions in a railway museum.
Mildly engaging at best and downright insipid at worst, it's proof that getting a rom-com right is as difficult in Lodz as it is in Los Angeles or London.
