The actor attracted attention as Annette Bening's young lover in the romantic drama Being Julia.

After graduating from London's Guildhall of Speech and Drama in 2001, he appeared in the political TV comedy The Project alongside Naomie Harris.

Work followed in the long-running series Teachers before he landed his big screen debut in John Irwin's The Boys from County Clare with and Bernard Hill.

During filming Evans also began a relationship with co-star and Irish pop singer Andrea Corr.

In 2004, veteran director Istvan Szabo cast him alongside Bening and Jeremy Irons in Being Julia.
