Steven Strait

Born March 23 1986
Where: Greenwich Village, New York.

The former model attracted international attention when he was cast as warrior D'Leh in the prehistoric blockbuster 10,000 BC.

Born and raised in the heart of Manhattan, Strait's early jobs included as a 12-year-old replacing weights in a downtown gym.

"I like the simpler things in life. I’d be OK as long as I had a couple of sets of clothes, some books..."

He was was educated at Manhattan's Public School Number Three before attending a the Catholic Xavier High School while boxing and playing basketball in his spare time.

It was during a workout session at a local gym that Strait was scouted by Boss Models agent John Babin and went on to front campaigns for L'uomo Vogue, Details and Pop magazine while working with photographers Bruce Weber, Herb Ritts.

Since the age of 12 he had taken acting lessons and attended performance classes at the Village Community School while in the sixth form.

He refined his stage craft at both the Stella and Black Nexxus acting studios in New York and mde his small screen debut in the US TV series Third Watch.

In 2004, Strait moved to California where he landed the minor role of teenage superhero Warren Peace in the 2005 family sci-fi thriller Sky High.

His next movie appearance was alongside Ashlee Simpson (in her movie debut) and Pell James in Undiscovered, a story about wannabe stars in the entertainment industry.

In 2006 he starred as teenage warlock Caleb Danvers in the horror-thriller The Covenant.

Offscreen, Strait is the lead singer of The Tribe.

Recent feature work includes the role of young mammoth hunter D'Leh in director Roland Emmerich's prehistoric epic 10,000 BC.
