Writer-director Adam Rifkin ventures into John Waters/David Lynch territory in this grotesque tale of a talentless comic who finds notoriety when a third arm grows out of his back. The comedy is very dark, but often quite hilarious. There's a priceless scene where Gus brings three circus fat ladies over to Marty's place to see the freak for themselves! This is a stylish movie, with casting, design, camerawork (by Joey Forsyte) and editing all superlatively executed. A contender for cult movie status. Look out for James Caan in a side-splitting but brief appearance as a fraudulent, crazy MD.
