Whipped on its exciting way by a fiendishly clever teleplay by Andy Tennant, this is a tense, tangled yarn with a good performance by young Jason Bateman as the teenager who comes home from holiday to find that his entire family, together with the dog and every stick of furniture, has disappeared into thin air. The premise is so good that, in spite of some indifferent acting, the action remains engrossing almost throughout. Bateman's young leading lady Chynna Phillips is the daughter of Michelle and John Phillips of the group The Mamas and the Papas.
