Antonia Bird's whodunnit begins very well, but takes so long to get anywhere near the pith of the matter that you may sympathise with suspect Joanna McCallum when she cries "Can you tell me what the hell's going on? ". And lanky amateur sleuth Janet McTeer seems far too brainy to walk into such an obvious trap at the end. But by then you may be only too glad to confirm that the killer is who you thought it was all along. There's a nice supporting cameo, though, from Peter Lovstrom as the university's assistant porter. Not suitable for younger children.
