A romantic comedy that echoes the style of continental movies from the Sixties, but lacks their class and joie-de-vivre. Unimaginative casting doesn't help, either, with Mastroianni as Cesareo, the archetypal incurably romantic Italian, and Andrews as Pamela, a prim English rose. The pair discover they have both been jilted, and romance blossoms between them as they set out to retrieve their errant spouses. Andrews, here in her late fifties, still looks fabulous, and the Paris settings are a delight. Gene Saks' heavy-handed direction at least keeps proceedings short enough to justify Julie Andrews fans taking a look.
