Director Blake Edwards' rudely satirical bite at the Hollywood hand that fed him. Richard Mulligan, alias Burt from the 'Soap' series, plays the director who tries to retrieve a disastrous film by turning it into a sex saga. Julie Andrews, stripping to the waist, saves his money if not his life, but can't do much with the real thing, which is allowed by Edwards to go on and on, though its fun is so forced and dated and shows so little genuine humour that it's doubtful that even drastic cutting would help. A fistful of talented people are encouraged to emote madly in search of laughs, and only William Holden really resists the director's invitation to go over the top. The running gag of Mulligan falling through the floor of his bedroom is also quite funny.
