Intriguing and colourful if wildly improbable drama about a strong willed ex-prostitute woman (Susan Hayward) urging her husband (Dean Martin) on to political power in the southern states of America. The most incisive and interesting performance comes from Britain's Wilfrid Hyde White, abandoning his normal chintzy image for that of an unscrupulous political manipulator. Few went to see this film, whose title can't have done it any good.
