A cosy, sentimental, but atmospheric adaptation of the Louisa M Alcott classic that has also been filmed in 1994 with Winona Ryder and more memorably with Katharine Hepburn in 1933. This version looks like a series of colourful Christmas card scenes, but boasts impressive performances from June Allyson as Jo, and Mary Astor as the beloved Marmee.
