The former model is probably bes known for the character of Lieutenant Stephanie Holden in the TV series Baywatch.

Big screen appearances include John Carpenter's chiller Christine and the feature Dragnet with Dan Aykroyd and Tom Hanks.

She sacrificed a place at Stanford University to pursue acting and made her debut in the TV movie Paper Dolls opposite Darryl Hannah.

"Hot dogs, poetry and vibrators" - tagline for the movie Breaking Up Really Sucks.

A keen environmentalist, she drives an electric car and founded the green-aware Population Education Project.

At her wedding to actor Ian Murray, the couple sent their invitations out on hemp, the bride's gown contained no silk and the food was meat-free.

The couple made their own rings from panned-gold and the guests were not permitted to bring gifts to reduce consumption of natural resources.

When she is not doing her bit for the planet, Paul's big screen appearances have included Christine, American Flyers and Kuffs alongside Christian Slater.

She also starred in the thriller Sunset Grill and the sci-fi drama Cyber Bandits with Martin Kemp.

Subsequent appearances have included a small part in Spy Hard and the serial killer thriller Revenge, where she took the lead role.

Paul also starred alongside Rosanna Arquette in Diary of a Sex Addict and the cop thriller Facing the Enemy.

From 1992 she has been a regular in the TV soap Melrose Place as well as reprising the part of Lt Holden in Baywatch spin-off movies.

Recent work includes the lesbian romance Breaking Up Really Sucks and Baywatch: Hawaiian Wedding.
