The rise and fall of a black ganglord provides another meaty central role for the versatile Wesley Snipes and he grabs it with both hands in this very violent narcotics thriller set in New York's Harlem. Ice T and Judd Nelson are also fine as the cops out to destroy Snipes's operation and the whole thing is neatly put together by director Mario Van Peebles, who also plays a featured role. The result is an action-packed gangster thriller with a firm anti-drugs message.
