This science-fiction murder thriller spans seven centuries from 1886 to 2586 and has history professor William Devane caught up in a time-travel chase as he tries to help Lauren Hutton, a woman from the 26th century, track down an associate of her father, the evil Klaus Kinski, who has escaped to the 19th century. It's a good idea, quite well worked out, and the action gathers momentum pretty entertainingly towards the end. Devane is suitably square-jawed and determined, Hutton is glamorous and Kinski (making his American TV movie debut) does well as the evil genius. Veteran western star Forrest Tucker made his last film appearance here (he died later in 1986) as an expert on western lore, and you'll spot John Ratzenberger, alias Cliff the know-all postman from 'Cheers'. Incidentally, the building that features in the 2586 scenes actually exists, and was built by the famous architect Frank Lloyd-Wright.
