At the age of 18 Rene was spotted by agent John Crosby at a Rolling Stones concert.

He arranged a contract for her with modelling diva Nina Blanchard, and Rene was an immediate success.

She became one of the top models of the 1970s and early 80s, appearing on the covers of many fashion magazines including Vogue and Harper's Bazaar.

Changing her career path to acting in the mid-80s, Rene secured a role on the short-lived TV series Sable.

Her film acting debut followed shortly with a role in Major League, but it was Lethal Weapon 3, four years later that was her real breakthrough.

Her part in the blockbuster led to a starring role opposite Clint Eastwood in In the Line of Fire, and she earned high critical praise for her turn in Get Shorty.

The remake of The Thomas Crown Affair brought Rene her biggest success to date and major critical plaudits.
