John Hannah
Born: 23rd April 1962
Where: East Kilbride, Scotland
Scottish actor John Hannah attended Claremont School in East Kilbride near Glasgow, but dropped out at the age of 16 to work as an electrician.
Every Saturday morning he attended The Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow, an experience that would lead him to his successful and lucrative acting career.
In 1990 John made his feature debut with a small role in Harbour Beat, directed by David Elfick.
But it wasn't until four years later, at the same time as the world became enamoured with Hugh Grant, that John won the attention he deserved.
The enormous hit comedy Four Weddings And A Funeral broke box office records and brought all the cast members into the public eye, in the UK and beyond.
He received a Best Supporting Actor BAFTA nomination for his portrayal of Matthew in this film and has never looked back.
John could not have hoped for a higher profile entry into the world of movies and Hollywood, and the following year he took part in Jude Law's home movie style film, The Final Cut.
In 1998 he starred opposite Gwyneth Paltrow in the romantic comedy Sliding Doors, and in the same year he turned his hand to the business side of moviemaking and became a partner in the UK cased company, Clerkenwell Films.
