A sad attempt to remake High Sierra with Jack Palance falling well short in the central Humphrey Bogart role. As opposed to that classic, this is just a standard crime drama. However, it is penned from his book by W R Burnett who also collaborated on the original, that time with John Huston. Lon Chaney Jr plays a dying hood who plans the fateful 'one last' robbery. He springs Palance from gaol to complete his team of Lee Marvin, Earl Holliman and Perry Lopez. Inevitably, human nature confounds even the best laid plans...
