Allan stared his life in the arts as a stage-hand at the Fillmore Theater in NYC.
His student film, Septuagenarian's Substitute Ball, won the second prize at the National Student Film Festival, and Allan's career was launched.
Her directed the Bette Midler-Mick Jagger Beast of Burden music video, and Allan then went on helm a feature, Rock 'n' Roll High School, which he also wrote.
Known as one of America's most acclaimed and popular TV directors, Allan's small screen credits include such classics as Fame, St. Elsewhere, Moonlighting, LA Law, Parenthood and Ally McBeal.
His most recent features have been Prince Charming starring Sean Maguire and Christina Applegate, and Caddyshack II.
