The presence of Orson Welles, as writer, director and star, clearly dominates this modest film on the theme of loneliness and an old man's attempts to make a legend come true. Made on a shoestring for French TV, it's actually based on a story by Karen Blixen (whose life story featured in 'Out of Africa') writing under the pseudonym Isak Dinesen. The results are spellbinding.
