This teen drama - featuring Willem Dafoe's third Hollywood role - was not released in British cinemas. That can probably be put down to the wafer-thin script and dull direction. Still, there are 21 rock and country tunes to divert attention from the film's shortcomings. It's a throwback to the kind of film that was made in the Fifties, with Judge Reinhold as a college boy forced to acquire some street savvy overnight while he waits in a hick town for a new radiator for his car. Dafoe is a hitch-hiking ex-singer who helps him raise some hell, find true love and take on the town bad guys at pool and in a drag race. And all in 24 hours. Phew!
