A revisionist version of the life story of the athletic bank robber John Dillinger, who wasn't as bad as previously painted, according to this so-so TV movie. Former St Elsewhere pin-up Mark Harmon, once voted the `Sexiest Man Alive,' is certainly a virile leading man, who machine-guns banks and makes love to while away his last year alive. Sherilyn Fenn makes Dillinger's moll Billie Frechette a loyal, living doll, and there's a novel piece of casting in having Lawrence Tierney, who played Dillinger to great acclaim in the 1945 film of the same name, as a sheriff murdered by one of Dillinger's sidekicks. Good cast altogether, indeed, with Will Patton, Patricia Arquette and Vince Edwards in strong featured roles. Fast-paced, too: what a pity it just doesn't ring true.
