'Boy, there's some incredibly weird people out there,' exclaims skipper Dennis Hopper as he leads his crew of spaced-out Vietnam veterans, manning a pirate TV station aboard an old bomber plane. Among his men are Pollard as the resident electronics wizard, dodging all the missiles an enraged US military can launch, and an oriental sitting astride a massive bomb. And these are the quieter members of a crew that soon becomes dedicated to blocking the nomination of one Willa Westinghouse, a presidential candidate planning to start another war somewhere, somehow. This is a bitter black comedy constantly battling to shrug off an ordinary plot and working best when it succeeds. Hopper and Pollard offer their familiar 'eccentric' characterisations, but the central 'surprise' of the plot is rather obvious throughout.
