Woody Harrelson takes an early leading role in this slow-moving psychological drama which top-stars Melissa Gilbert as the incredible shrink who, in her efforts to beat the system and offer her patients better treatment, stretches a couch too far. Harrelson and Lane Smith give her more support than the script (or the authorities), but Fernando Lopez has little to do but rant repetitively as the psycho Gilbert chiefly seeks to save, to the point where all logic deserts her. For a decent treatment of the subject, wait for the British oldie Mine Own Executioner to come on instead.
