Slam-bang action all the way, with Hopper as Detective Harry 'Nails' Niles, a good cop with a bad attitude (well, being Hopper, he would have, wouldn't he? ). When his partner gets killed in an ambush while working on something big, dirty Harry sets out to foil the baddies and administer his own brand of vigilante-style justice. A well-plotted film whose endearing quirkiness is mainly down to Hoipper's own offbeat personality. Director John Flynn, who made The Outfit, Best Seller and Lock Up, knows how to steamroller this sort of action crime thriller along, and, like his leading character, doesn't allow too many sideline issues to get in his way. If you like Hopper, the odds are on you liking this. Don't expect subtlety though.
