A misbegotten comedy vehicle for Dana Carvey, the less funny half of the Wayne-and-Garth duo from Wayne's World. Dana's a private eye in a plot that might even have worked a bit better played straight, but is pretty much a non-starter on any level. Carvey's character's problem is that each morning he forgets what's gone the day before. There are echoes of Groundhog Day in this but, alas, only echoes. A talented dog called Barkley keeps proceeding afloat for the first few minutes: His character has a 'depth perception' problem, which tends to lead to him sailing wide of his targets. Make the most of Barkley, though, as he's the only good thing in the film. The chief crime here is the running time.
