The stars of this sea-faring monster horror thriller are first rate James Earl Jones, Jose Ferrer and Lila Kedrova - but that doesn't make it a monster of a movie. The tale of an underwater beastie suddenly freed on a gaggle of island holidaymakers, thanks to a treasure hunter's explosion, is too silly to scare anyone - except the islanders, who set about sacrificing semi-naked virgins to appease it. A bit of a low point in Eighties horror, although the Greek picture-postcard locations are temptingly shot in eye-catching Technicolor, and, with its carefree bargain-basement film-making style, it's often quite fun in a so-bad-it's-good kind of way.
