Reviled by producers and public, but worshipped by sections of the critical intelligentsia, this is Dennis Hopper's `follow up' to Easy Rider. It's certainly a curio and perhaps in some ways autobiographical. You may bear some of the pretentiousness in order to `read between the lines', appreciate the photography of Laszlo Kovacs and the acting of Julie Adams as Mrs Anderson, and spot a high number of famous faces in tiny roles. Says Hopper `It's a difficult film... but to me, it's a movie about movies, about how you get drawn in and want to believe. I see it as being like an artist's palette... something with which you can do anything you want'.
