A strong and complex Hitchcock-style thriller with classic ingredients: a hero with a weakness battles unknown forces. Someone certainly has it in for Roy Scheider, as a government agent barely recovered from a nervous breakdown, after seeing his wife shot down by bullets meant for him. There's a mix-up over possession of his flat, someone tries to push him under a train - and he receives a mysterious death threat. Are his old colleagues (led by Christopher Walken) out to get him? Or has he become involved in some deeper nightmare?
