A laughably ludicrous, if not entirely unenjoyable chiller starring Jamie Lee Curtis as an unbalanced woman who walked out on her husband and three boys a few years before. Now that hubby (Peter Gallagher) has fallen in love with a teacher (Joanne Whalley-Kilmer), and is suing for a divorce, his ex-wife decides she wants her family back. None of what follows is soundly enough based to have any impact beyond making you giggle, leading to a quite preposterous climax, with a car balanced on a tree overhanging a chasm. Jamie Lee tries hard in a blonde wig to be bad, and Joanne tries hard to be good, but both are wildly cast against type and arouse the wrong sort of reaction. Gallagher is just lost open-mouthed in the middle. Vanessa Redgrave is in for a few lines as Granny, and to give her stunt girl a chance to fall spectacularly down a flight of stairs. Very silly but never dull.
