Hiromoto Ida is the 'Tokyo cowboy', who quits his job in a Japanese burger joint to pursue his dream of becoming a real Westerner in the last frontier of the Canadian back country. He meets his childhood penpal (Christianne Hirt) and finds himself learning the finer points of becoming a cowboy while indulging in sagebrush fantasies. The soft-hearted tale of misunderstandings, misadventures and cross-cultural confusions is sometimes predictable and too low-key, but more often it's amusing and touching. Even when it flags, the acting's appealing and the script constantly picks itself up off the floor by shooting off in unexpected directions.
