A sweet-natured British romantic comedy without the snap to take it into the top class - featuring Hollywood's Anthony Edwards, who would have been well advised to stay on the safer shores of ER. Everyone concerned tries very hard with this one, but you just can't see the reason for making a film so bland and (if the dentist played by Charles Dance will forgive the expression) without bite. Widow Jenny Seagrove (a very competent actress who just isn't a star) is courted by sports trainer Edwards (who takes her misfit son under his wing), but hypnotised by Dance into going out with him - but not into anything very scandalous. Some mild smiles result.
