A harsh and amoral gangster yarn, adapted from the Norman Mailer novel. The theme and its treatment are reminiscent of Hollywood thrillers of the Forties, with Stuart Whitman as an anti-gangster TV crusader who falls into the clutches of the underworld himself after he strangles his wife in a fit of anger. In a small role as a maid who, clad only in towel and shower water, tries to seduce the anti-hero, sulky, marble-eyed Austrian actress Susan Denberg quite walks away with the film. UK title: See You in Hell, Darling.
