Morgan Freeman plays Dr. Alex Cross who is mourning the loss of his partner eight months previously. When the murderer involves him in the case of Megan Rose, he cannot resist and embarks on a dangerous and almost impossible mission to track her whereabouts.
By his side is Jezzie (Potter), the CIA agent who failed to protect her ward at school on that fateful day and who is determined to play a part in her safe return. As the thriller twists and turns the story turns rather more complex and sinister¿.
This thriller serves its purpose brilliantly. Jumps and jolts at every corner and twists that will confuse even a master of crime stories!
It's a sequel/prequel to 1997's Kiss The Girls and is a more polished version of the original. A quicker script, and more atmospheric direction by Lee Tamahori (Mulholland Falls) than even Ridley Scott could muster last time round.
A tale of kidnap, murder and intrigue, Along Came A Spider is slick, witty and touching and takes the crime/thriller genre onto a new level where not only the plot surprises but the characters do too.
In fact, the people carry the story with strong identities and biting charisma.
Morgan freeman excels in his best role - the aged, sage of the police force, whose pearls of wisdom drive those around him to success.
