Sub-Private Benjamin country, but still an amusing TV film to cash in on the success of Goldie Hawn's big screen comedy about women in the American forces. It has the usual romances between female and male recruits, black market dealings and confrontations with authority. There's a nice change of pace for Jamie Lee Curtis, who was getting typecast in low-budget, high-grossing horror films as the new queen of the screamers. The producers struck lucky in getting four stars in the making - Curtis, Kathleen Quinlan, Melanie Griffith and Julie Carmen - for the leading roles.
