Lucky Walter Pidgeon is surrounded by female co-stars (headed by Deborah Kerr), who no doubt helped to cheer him up while making this sombre story of a publisher accused of driving a young girl to suicide. Lots of acting class in the supporting cast which includes Dame May Whitty, Angela Lansbury, Binnie Barnes, Janet Leigh, Virginia Keiley and Rene Ray, who appeared in scores of British films from the beginning of sound before going to America to make this film.
