Nastassja Kinski stars in the moving tale of a Hungarian mother who, in 1950, flees to the US with her husband (Tony Goldwyn) and elder daughter, but is forced to leave her youngest behind with foster parents. Six years later, they send for her, but the girl (Scarlett Johansson), now 15, finds it hard to adjust to life in LA. Solid performances help make this an emotional story of politically-enforced separation.
