Elegant Audrey Hepburn delivers the goods in more ways than one in this comedy about an attempt to steal a priceless statue.
Director William Wyler also guided her through her Oscar-winning performance in Roman Holiday, and this girl is such fun to watch - the voice, the face are ever-changing, completely individual.
And it's not so much what Givenchy clothes do for Audrey as what she does for Givenchy clothes. There's a sly joke about Givenchy during the sleek proceedings, the pièce de résistance of which is the robbery itself, in which fiendishly complex safety precautions have to be overcome.
Peter O'Toole co-stars and three French matinee idols of the Thirties - Charles Boyer, Fernand Gravet and Marcel Dalio - appear in supporting roles, each in his 60s, but all as debonair as ever. And a fat comedian called Moustache is very funny as a museum guard.
