Although his career has been over-shadowed by his brother Keith and half-brother David, he has still blazed a successful trail.

Highlights include Martin Scorcese's Mean Streets as well as originating the role of Lewis Skolnick in Revenge of the Nerds.

The son of acting legend John Carradine (Stagecoach, Grapes of Wrath, House of Dracula),his first big screen role was in the 1972 John Wayne movie The Cowboys.

He followed Mean Streets with a string of smaller roles until the Oscar-winning Coming Home in 1978.

Roles followed in Blackout, The Long Riders and World War II drama The Big Red One, which was perhaps his most impressive role.

He followed Revenge of the Nerds with three sequels before being cast in John Carpenter's Escape from LA.

TV appearances include Dr Bruce Hartmann in Nash Bridges as well as guest roles in The Practice, ER and NYPD Blue.

He is also a regular in the hit teen TV series Lizzy Maguire with Hilary Duff.

Recent work includes Who'll Stop The Rain, Ghosts of Mars and The Lizzie Mcguire Movie, in which he plays the father of the American teenager.
