Emilio Estevez
Born: 12 May 1962
Where: New York, USA
A big Hollywood star of the 1980s, Estevez played the goofy greaser Two-Bit Matthews in The Outsiders before gaining critical notice as a punk rocker turned Repo Man in Alex Cox's surreal sci-fi satire.
The son of actor Martin Sheen, and brother of Charlie Sheen, remained busy throughout the 80s, appearing in three films in 1985 alone and gaining prominence among his co-stars who collectively were labelled The Brat Pack.
The Breakfast Club, cast him as a sensitive high-school jock while St.
Elmo's Fire saw him play a medical student coming to grips with adulthood. Estevez scripted and co-starred in That Was Then...This Was Now, playing a troubled youth jealous of his older brother's relationship with a girl. While still starring in successful films through the late 80s and early 90s - Stakeout, Young Guns, Young Guns II, and The Mighty Ducks to name a few - Estevez has yet to fulfil his early promise.
He attempted to branch out as a screenwriter and director, making his directorial debut with Wisdom, that featured Demi Moore and Estevez as two young bank robbers trying to help the farmers of America. He fared a little better with his second feature, Men at Work, a comedy with Estevez and his brother Sheen playing unconventional garbage men who try to save the environment.
Critics were divided over 1996's The War at Home, although many felt Estevez had finally proven himself as both an actor and a director. He again appeared alongside his brother in the feature Rated X, but Estevez has yet to make a real comeback into the feature world.
