This inept spy comedy was shot in 1987 and not released for two years in the US. It was actually billed as the first of three comeback vehicles for John Travolta after his career nosedived in the Eighties; but he had to wait to resuscitate his stardom in 'Look Who's Talking' two years later, and completed a triumphant comeback more recently with Pulp Fiction. No thanks to this, though: produced by co-star James Keach, it's a one-joke comedy in 'Back to the Future' vein about a Russian spy training centre that looks like a real US town. The only interesting sequence comes when Travolta gets to teach co-star Kelly Preston (now his real-life wife) new dance steps in a nice parody of his early film roles. The tired direction is in the hands of Dave Thomas, who started his career working in a cabaret double-act with Rick Moranis: he hasn't done much film directing since.
