This is quite simply a violent, blood-soaked nightmare.
Woody Harrelson and Juliette Lewis star as a young couple who embark on a three-week killing spree which leaves 52 people dead.
The first part of the film records each murder in horrific detail. The second half details the intense media circus that surrounds their capture.
It's a brain-numbing experience which bombards the viewer with a multitude of images from nature and the human killers' evil deeds shot in 35mm black-and-white, Super 8 and video, and at different speeds - but all equally foul.
The film seeks to show how the vulture-like media's thirst for bloody and violent images actually encourages violent crime, but it could be argued that director Oliver Stone merely glorifies the very violence that he seeks to condemn.
