The former child actress landed her first mainstream lead role in the chiller When A Stranger Calls.
The daughter of an American father and a Brazilian mother (who is now her manager), Belle was educated at the all-girl Marlborough School in LA.
She began her career before her first birthday, getting a job in a national advertising campaign at age nine months.
By the time she was in school, she had begun to land roles in TV-movies including Trouble Shooters: Trapped Beneath the Earth, about the rescue of earthquake survivors.
She made her big screen debut as one of the orphans in Alfonso Cuaron's 1995 remake of A Little Princess.
In 1997, she landed a minor role in Steven Spielberg's Jurassic Park: The Lost World and played the young Sally Owens (enacted by Sandra Bullock as an adult) in Practical Magic before being cast as Steven Segal's child in the thriller The Patriot.
Subsequent roles included the young incarnation of Phoebe (who grows up to be Jordana Brewster) in The Invisible Circus and a co-starring role in Arie Posin's satire The Chumscrubber.
In 2005, she played Daniel Day-Lewis' daughter in The Ballad of Jack and Rose and starred as a terrorised babysitter in the thriller When A Stranger Calls.
