Bruce Paltrow

Paltrow began his career in theatre in the late 1960s before moving into TV and film. He made his feature directing debut with the 1982 film A Little Sex.
Paltrow married the Tony Award-winning stage actress Danner in 1970, and the couple had two children, Gwyneth and Jake.
Bruce is most famous for his work on the hit 1980s TV hospital drama St Elsewhere.
He last wrote and directed his daughter in the quirky comedy Duets, a story about a father and daughter who come together through a shared love of karaoke.
He died in October 2002, aged 58, in Rome during a trip to celebrate Gwyneth's 30th birthday, after a bout of pneumonia and a recurrence of throat cancer.
